Frequently asked questions

How is a deep clean different from a regular clean?+

A deep clean is a one-time top-to-bottom reset that brings the home back to baseline. It covers everything a recurring clean does, plus baseboards, vents, light fixtures, inside appliances, grout, blinds, and the buildup spots maintenance visits don't reach.

Do I need a deep clean before starting recurring service?+

We strongly recommend it. A one-time deep clean brings the home to baseline so recurring visits stay efficient.

What's included that a regular clean doesn't cover?+

Baseboards, inside microwaves, light fixtures, vents, detailed grout, ceiling fans, and other built-up areas a maintenance clean wouldn't reach.

Deep cleaning, explained

What a true deep clean does that a regular cleaning never can

A deep cleaning isn't a longer version of a regular cleaning — it's a different service entirely. The goal is to bring every surface in your home back to a true baseline so that recurring maintenance visits can keep it there efficiently. Here's what that actually looks like, when you need one, and how to know if it's worth the investment for your specific home.

When a deep clean is the right call

We recommend a deep clean in five specific situations: before starting any recurring service (so the maintenance visits stay efficient), after construction, remodeling, or painting (drywall dust gets into everything and a regular vacuum doesn't reach it), before a major event like a holiday gathering, graduation party, or family visit, as a seasonal reset in spring or after the long Illinois winter, and after illness or pet incidents when you want a thorough sanitization beyond what a normal clean provides.

If your home hasn't had a professional cleaning in a while, a deep clean is almost always the right starting point. Every recurring visit afterward is more effective because we're not playing catch-up on months of buildup.

The hidden details a regular clean skips

Recurring cleans cover the visible surfaces — counters, floors, fixtures, toilets, mirrors. A deep clean adds the buildup points that quietly accumulate grime over months and years: baseboards and door frames, ceiling fans and vents, light fixtures and switch plates, interior microwave and inside the oven, refrigerator gaskets and the dust trap behind it, grout lines in tile, shower door tracks, blinds and window sills, the tops of cabinets, behind toilets, and the back of the laundry room. Most homes hold five to ten pounds of dust in these spots without the owner ever realizing it.

What to expect on the day

We send a properly-sized team so the visit completes in a single day. You'll get a written quote after a brief walkthrough or a few photos, and the quote is the price — no surprise add-ons unless you specifically request extras like inside-fridge or inside-oven (which we list as optional because they require the appliances to be empty).

Products, safety, and what we bring

We bring all supplies and equipment, including HEPA-filtered vacuums, microfiber systems that don't redistribute dust, and EPA-registered disinfectants for bathrooms and kitchens. Pet-safe and fragrance-free options are available by default — just mention it when you book. If you have specific products you'd like us to use (your own no-VOC cleaners, stone-safe solutions for marble countertops, or fragrance-free options for chemical sensitivities), we're happy to use those instead.
